Adults and Families
In addition to
Adult Sunday School and
Home Groups, Calvary offers a variety of ministries geared towards equipping and training men and women to live their lives according to God's Word, and to minister to the greater needs of the church as a whole. Here is a sample:
Fundamentals of the Faith (Sunday School)
In our discipleship course, believers learn the fundamentals of Christian faith while practicing and developing intimate personal relationships. This is a ministry that is absolutely essential to the health of the local body. There is a perpetual slot for Christian fundamentals during the Sunday School hour (meets in the back building. Contact an
elder, or the
church office, for more details.)
Baptism Class
As noted in our
ministries overview, baptism of all new believers who have a credible profession of faith in Christ is a biblical command. In our 3-week baptism class, we discuss with new believers the essentials of the Christian faith, helping them to examine themselves biblically and to be sure that theirs is a saving faith. We explain that true conversion is always accompanied by repentence from sin and turning towards righteousness, and help new believers to understand what that looks like in their life. Finally, we work with them on their testimonies, which are given in front of the congregation within the waters of baptism.
Membership Class
Our 10-week Membership Class runs periodically throughout the year. It usually meets Sunday afternoons following a lunch served after the Morning Worship Service. We study the benefits and responsibilities of church membership, and examine Calvary’s
Statement of Faith and Constitution. Inquire with the
elders if you are interested.
Men’s Theology Class
Anticipating starting in January 2008, and meeting on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday nights of each month. Signups are required; contact an
elder if interested. The course will cover biblical theology, origins of the Bible, and other theological topics. Some reading will be required.
Men’s Prayer Breakfast
First Saturday of the month at 7:00 am from October to May. Meets at the homes of members of Calvary. Not only is Men’s Prayer Breakfast a time for cultivating friendships, but it is a time of intimate fellowship as the men share their personal needs with one another and the Lord.
Ladies’ Bible Study
Meets once a week (check the
calendar for exact times). Ladies’ Bible Study exists to provide the women of CBC an opportunity to cultivate Christ-centered relationships as they grow in their understanding of God’s Word. Its goal is to produce women who are committed to loving each other, their husbands and children (
Titus 2:4), and glorifying God in all areas of their lives.
Ladies’ Prayer Breakfast
Fourth Saturday of the month at 8:30 am from October to May. A time of prayer, fellowship, and ministering to one another. And of course, a great breakfast!
