Adults and Families
In addition to
Adult Sunday School and
Home Groups, Calvary offers a variety of ministries geared towards equipping and training men and women to live their lives according to God's Word, and to minister to the greater needs of the church as a whole. Here is a sample:
Fundamentals of the Faith (Sunday School)
Fundamentals of the Faith is a discipleship course for new believers who want to learn the fundamentals of Christian faith, while practicing and developing intimate personal relationships. This course is offered periodically throughout the year (as needed), during the Sunday School hour. Contact an
elder, or the
church office, for more details.
Baptism Class
As noted in our
ministries overview, baptism of all new believers who have a credible profession of faith in Christ is a biblical command. In our 3-week baptism class, we discuss with new believers the essentials of the Christian faith, helping them to examine themselves biblically and to be sure that theirs is a saving faith. We explain that true conversion is always accompanied by repentance from sin and turning towards righteousness, and help new believers to understand what that looks like in their life. Finally, we work with them on their testimonies, which are given in front of the congregation within the waters of baptism.
Membership Class
Our 10-week Membership Class runs periodically throughout the year. It usually meets Sunday afternoons following a lunch served after the Morning Worship Service. We study the benefits and responsibilities of church membership, and examine Calvary’s
Statement of Faith and Constitution. Inquire with the
elders if you are interested.
Men’s Leadership Class
A weekly course on Thursday nights for men who aspire to be leaders in the church or in their family. Signups are required; contact an
elder if interested. The course will be focused on the role of leadership within the church as an elder or deacon and the role of leadership within a Christian household. Reading and homework will be required.
Ladies’ Bible Study
Meets once a week (check the
calendar for exact times). Ladies’ Bible Study exists to provide the women of Calvary an opportunity to cultivate Christ-centered relationships as they grow in their understanding of God’s Word. Its goal is to produce women who are committed to loving each other, their husbands and children (
Titus 2:4), and glorifying God in all areas of their lives.
