Home Groups
Home Groups meets twice a month at 6:00 pm instead of the regular Sunday Evening Service. Usually, home groups are scheduled for the second and third Sunday evenings of the month, though there are exceptions: check our calendar for exact times.
Home Groups are currently meeting in homes in the Somerset, Piscataway, and Clinton areas. A Home Group is a gathering of 4-15 people at a member's home for the purpose of mutual spiritual edification, fellowship, study and evangelism. It follows the biblical pattern of the New Testament church where, in Acts 2:46, they met "in the temple...and from house to house." This was how the early church was successful in forming strong ties with each other, and evangelizing the lost.
In the time and place we live, however, our lifestyles and schedules keep us largely separated from each other. The goal of Home Groups is therefore to provide an environment where believers can be closely connected to other believers, and in which biblical fellowship may take place in a more personal way.
During our home group time, we start with a brief time of worship in song. Then, we usually discuss a chapter from the book we are studying (currently, we are studying Spiritual Disciplines for the Church by Donald Whitney). We sometimes also memorize Bible verses together as a home group. Afterwards, we have an informal time of fellowship and refreshments, during which we talk about what God is doing in our lives, and how we are being challenged and encouraged spiritually.
We hope that everybody in our church will join a home group. Exact locations vary from week to week: to find out more, speak to an elder or home group leader (Pastor Babij, Gabe Zepeda or Greg Ho), or contact us.
