10 Gospel Truths
1. God is the sovereign Creator of all things.
(Nehemiah 9:6)There is a living, eternal God who created all things. He made the sky and the stars and the ground and the trees and the plants and the animals and all the people. He is the King of His creation. God controls it and rules over it.
2. God created people for His glory.
(Isaiah 43:6-7)We were created by a personal God to love, serve, and enjoy endless fellowship with Him. The New Testament reveals that it was Jesus himself who created everything. He made us and gives us all our comforts, blessings, and privileges. He has authority over our lives and we owe him full allegiance, obedience, and worship.
3. God is holy and righteous.
(Deuteronomy 32:4)God made His laws, that He might let his creatures know His will, and see what a great, wise, good, holy and just Being He is. He is perfect in all His characteristics; His greatness is unimaginable to the human mind. God requires holiness of us as well.
4. Man is sinful.
(Mark 7:21-22)In sinning, we break God’s laws and despise his authority. We show ourselves to be ungrateful to the Being who has been so kind to us. From birth we reject God and disobey Him. Committing even just one sin, the Bible says, makes us sinners against all of God's law.
5. God is just and is right to punish sin.
(Romans 1:18)God will not, however, relate to us as long as our lives are characterized by sin —something He hates and judges harshly. We were born sinners and are therefore under God's judgment. It is our nature to sin, which gives us an automatic sentence to hell and the accompanying wrath of God.
6. God is merciful. He is kind to undeserving sinners.
(Psalm 145:8)We are helpless to save ourselves. The Bible teaches that we are totally unable to do anything about our future judgment, and we can't do anything to gain favor with God. No matter how hard we try, we still sin, pushing ourselves farther away from God. But God, in His great mercy and kindness made a way for sin to be punished and sinners to be saved from His wrath against sin.
7. Jesus is God’s holy and righteous Son.
(John 1:14)Because Jesus is God’s Son, He was born without a sin nature. Jesus was born without the desire to sin. And even when the devil tempted Him to sin, Jesus never sinned. Jesus perfectly obeyed God’s holy, righteous, and good commands ALL of the time!
8. God put the punishment of sinners on Jesus.
(1 Corinthians 15:3-4)God made only one way for us to escape this deserved fate and come to Him—through the shed blood and barbaric death of sinless Jesus, who was God Himself come down to earth as a man. The resurrection of Jesus from the dead validated His deity. Through this great historical event, this was planned by God before Creation, God provided Himself, as the only means of acquitting guilty sinners and providing Eternal Life.
9. God offers the free gift of salvation to those who repent and believe in Jesus.
(Acts 20:21)God provides this free, un-buyable gift of Eternal Life—and escape from His righteous judgment—to all who repent and trust Him. Repentance is brokenly regretting your sin against God in the past and turning away from those sinful ways to a conscious, Holy Spirit-led lifestyle of seeking to please God in every thought, word and deed.
10. Those who trust in Jesus will live to please Him and will receive the promise of eternal life — enjoying God forever in heaven.
(John 10:27)Once enemies of God, but now reconciled to Him through the person and finished work of the Lord Jesus. If we are trusting in Christ, we would follow Him. Jesus has promised that when we die He will bring us to heaven to live with God and enjoy Him forever.
A Final Warning: Repent, believe, and be saved!
Remember, it is not enough to believe certain facts about Jesus. Even Satan and his demons believe in the true God (James 2:19), but they don’t love or obey Him. Instead, true saving faith always responds with obedience (John 14:15).
Don't wait. You stand on the edge of eternity, being pulled ever closer to judgment with each passing day. You may not have tomorrow (2 Cor. 6:2). The time to repent and believe is now; it is the most important thing you can ever do.
Listen to Jesus' words in Matthew 11:28-30: “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My load is light.”
