Iron Man: Kicking Off 2017

This past Tuesday on 1/3, the Iron Man Men’s Fellowship kicked off our 2017 session! We had a great turnout with about 10-12 men.

The current study is entitled “Developing a Heart that Reaches Out.”  This evangelistic section is part of the larger study of “Becoming A Man After God’s Own Heart” by Jim George.

Here’s a brief description of what we studied:

Cripplegate blogger, Mike Riccardi, centralizes the meaning and purpose of our existence as believers in his post “Same old Message for a Brand New Year”.  The reason we have meaning and purpose is found in the heart of the Gospel.  God’s great grace reached out to us and now we are able to truly live and live for Him.  This message is what redeemed us and remains the message by which others will be redeemed.  We are now His and we carry His message.

Impassioned by his own life of evangelistic outreach, Ermanno encourages that the “Same Old Message” must be given to as many people as are within our reach.  For the Gospel is the power of God for the salvation of all who believe and we are His witnesses in this world of this glorious message.

How do we take our redeemed, Spirit-empowered lives and use them as the witness that Christ intended?  As Ermanno would say, “We must love the gospel AND our responsibility to be a witness.”  So, we must develop hearts that reach out to those around us.

The well-known story of the Good Samaritan gives us principles to employ.  Love for the spiritually destitute means taking the initiative.  Although the spiritually destitute may not be so lovely, we must look past the surface to love their souls.  We must remove the hindrances that avoid contact.  Our lives may feel too busy, so we want, like the Priest and the Levite, to walk around the destitute sinner, so we can continue our religious lives.  Yet, God’s grace is shown when we emulate Him by going out of our way, sacrificially, to love others.

Are we able?  How much are we willing to give?  God gave it all.  Would we give of our own time, possessions, finances, and comforts to reach out to others with this saving message?  Do you love the gospel enough to live it AND share it?

If you are a man, we invite you to come next time, establishing discipleship relationships with other men at Calvary and being motivated by the Gospel to live out the Great Commission!
