This week in Sunday school, we start to see circumstances turn around for Israel as God prepares the way for the second generation to inherit the promised land. God causes Israel to vanquish two entire kingdoms on the eastern side of the Jordan River and then protects Israel from an attempted curse by turning that curse into a blessing. Why should Israel’s military victories have bolstered the people’s faith in God? What did the pronounced blessing reveal regarding a coming exalted king in Israel? And how should we be encouraged in seeing what God was doing for his people in those days? We consider these questions and more.
